Design and development of steel wheel projects

Our know-how

With more than 25 years of experience, we are specialized in the design and development of projects for the stamping of steel wheels, where we can contribute our experience with different processes.

Currently, we also provide the product design service to help our customers, whether they are wheel manufacturers or car manufacturers, to develop different and innovative wheel designs, and we do this with a unique approach.

Our designs are attractive and comparable to an aluminium wheel, lighter and more aerodynamic compared to a conventional steel wheel, we optimize the production process and reduce the cost. We comply with the current regulations on wheel approval for passenger vehicles.

Global technical consulting regarding products and process.

We are able to define the most suitable and optimal process for the manufacture of the disc based on the requirements and needs of the customer. We work on transfer, automatic or semi-automatic and manual press process.

We can carry out the necessary studies and simulations in order to optimize the production process.

We ara able to provide remote or on-site technical support during testing and production start-up if necessary.

We are specialists in designing the dies to make the ventilation holes in one shot, as well as in the design of the dies to compact, calibrate or stretch the skirt and other special dies.

Experience in advanced high strength steels (AHSS) and thicknesses around 3 mm to 6 mm approx.

Design of the tools for the rim process and the disc-rim assembly among others.

ESSUVA PROJECTS, S.L. has developed the project "FEM simulation for conceptual steel wheel design" which was subsidized with the support of ACCIÓ, within the framework of the Coupons Indústria 4.0 program: Advice on implementation. The project consisted of an industrializable wheel design, with an attractive and totally innovative appearance, focused mainly on the electric vehicle sector.

ESSUVA PROJECTS has developed the project "FEM simulation of the stamping process of steel wheels" which has been subsidized with the support of ACCIÓ within the framework of the Coupons Indústria 4.0 program for testing advanced digital technologies - Digital Innovation Hub. The project has consisted of generating a simulation model, using the finite element method, which has allowed the company to verify and optimize the mechanical behavior of wheels with steel discs, during the manufacturing process by cold stamping.

ESSUVA PROJECTS, S.L. has developed the project "Aerodynamic behavior of steel wheels, through CFD simulation" which was subsidized with the support of ACCIÓ within the framework of the Coupons program digital technologies advanced. The project consisted of carrying out a design study of the steel wheel to improve its aerodynamic behavior through fluid dynamics simulation (CFD) techniques.

ESSUVA PROJECTS, S.L. has been the beneficiary of the project: “Study of the application of topological optimization techniques, based on finite elements, for the design of steel wheels” with reference “2023/DIH_01/000007” within the framework of the PADIH Program aid: Aid to small and medium-sized companies within the Support program for Digital Innovation Hubs, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (DIH_001) based on Order ICT/1296/2022, of December 22. This Project will allow the company to advance in the development of its own innovative product. In this sense, the proof of concept carried out using finite element simulation software and topology optimization software has represented an essential starting point for defining the strategy for obtaining wheel designs with optimal material distribution, capable of competing in terms of design, functionality, and also cost with the wheels currently available on the market.
